----An In-depth and All-round Strategic Collaboration Signing Ceremony Held Online

On 26th August 2022, Professor Richard Li-Hua, Founder and President of ELITE Innovation College Cambridge (EICC), United Kingdom, and Prof. Dr. Lu Dan, Chairman and President, of Geely Talent Development Group (Geely Talent Group), China, jointly signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement online. The teams of both parties witnessed this historic moment and opened a new chapter of cooperation in which the two parties reached many consensuses in the early stage. Both parties shared an exciting vision in tackling the challenges and opportunities for developing future leaders and managers in the post COVID-19 era.

Geely Talent Group is a subsidiary of the Geely Holding Group, one of the world's top 500 enterprises. It is the operation carrier of Geely's higher education business, running six higher education institutions. EICC is an educational institution with a global perspective, focused on innovation research, and committed to creating a highly innovative online and offline innovation university in the heart of innovation in the world. EICC has established cooperation with 5 universities in the UK, Canada, and Germany, and provides the degree and non-degree courses of these institutions.

Prof. Dr. Lu Dan, pointed out in his speech that he is very happy today that Geely Talent Group and EICC shared their vision, cooperated to address the challenges and opportunities faced by the global higher education in the era of epidemic, and formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Recently, I have read many articles about the digital revolution. With the invention of electronic computers and the rapid popularization of communication equipment, images, texts, sounds, data, etc. are generated after the conversion of electronic signals. Big data has a profound impact on the global higher education. The extreme situation of epidemic has also accelerated the online development of education. We are in an era of great changes in the global higher education, where opportunities and challenges coexist, and new formats in this field can emerge and develop. In China's education, " emphasizing science education and neglecting liberal arts education " has greatly weakened the cultural foundation of the university education in China, resulting in the lack of understanding of domestic and foreign culture and basic cultural accomplishment and artistic sentiment among university graduates. Online education platforms are the preferred choice, channels, enabling the cultivation of compound innovative talents, have broad development space.

Professor Richard Li-Hua said in his speech: "We have a high degree of consensus with Geely Talent Group sharing vision in dealing with the challenges and opportunities brought by the epidemic to the global higher education field. We believe online & offline (O2O) hybrid educational model will become the inevitable development trends of the global higher education in the future. It is a great honor that after more than a year of exploration, practice, and deliberation, we officially signed this agreement to become a strategic partner to each other today. We have conducted in-depth practice in this field of discussion and achieved initial results. Geely Talent Group have begun to establish a quality evaluation and assurance systemand method in teaching and learning with online & offline (O2O) hybrid educational model, which has been at the forefront of the global higher education, and we pay tribute!"

Virtual Strategic Collaboration Signing Ceremony

The two parties agree to work together to explore opportunities for cooperation and collaboration, including but not limited to the following:

(1) To support the vision of both parties in terms of developing student-centred learning for the enhancement of students’ journey, Geely Talent Group agrees to share the Online Education Platform with EICC to load EICC’s online English programmes and courses. All enrolled students with higher educational institutions of Geely Talent Group and EICC will be eligible to access to the courses on the Platform. Courses on the Platform will also be open to students in ASEAN countries, SCO countries, African countries, MENA regions, South Asia and so on.

(2) In order for pushing and leading education innovation in the global higher education in the 21st century in the post COVID-19 era, Geely Talent Group and EICC will work together to research, innovate, and develop an online & offline (O2O) hybrid educational model, including the quality assurance system upon O2O hybrid teaching and learning and the innovative pedagogy and methodology.

(3) Geely Talent Group will provide campuses for EICC students as their offline study abroad destinations in China. These campuses are located in Sanya, Chengdu, Nanning, and Xiangtan.

(4) EICC will function as one of Geely Talent’s graduate schools and provide students of Geely Talent universities opportunities for further study, and/or offline study abroad campuses. These campuses are located in Cambridge, London and Canterbury, UK; and Vancouver, Canada; and Toledo, OH, USA.

This Strategic Collaboration Signing Ceremony marks that the two parties have entered a stage of in-depth and all-roundstrategic cooperation. Based on common educational inspiration and ideas, the two parties will share global resources more widely, actively interact, and respond to global higher education and economic globalization in the post COVID-19 era. In the face of challenges and opportunities in the process of transformation, they will jointly pursue high-quality development. The two parties will also take this opportunity to further boost UK-China higher education cooperation and create a model for high-level transnational education innovation and cooperation particularly in the private higher education sector.
